About the Author
Kathleen Stassen Berger completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University and Radcliffe College, earned her M.A.T. from Harvard University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Yeshiva University. Her broad range of experience as an educator includes directing a preschool, teaching philosophy and humanities at the United Nations International School, teaching child and adolescent development to graduate students at Fordham University, teaching inmates earning paralegal degrees at Sing Sing Prison, and teaching undergraduates at both Montclair State University and Quinnipiac University. She has also been involved in education as the president of Community School Board in District Two in Manhattan.

Poor editing for both detail and content

There are a lot of typos, and I noticed some inaccuracies in graphs and charts as well. Throughout the textbook it was pretty common for the author to compare apples to oranges when discussing statistics, so it came across like she was trying to persuade and push an agenda rather than represent reality. As far as I know, much of the developmental information and descriptions of various theories are accurate, but since I'm not a psych major or fact checking the textbook, the above problems make the whole book seem suspect to me.
If you are an instructor, think twice before assigning this book. The publisher should be ashamed to be selling such a shoddily edited book at these prices.

if you are a poor college student such as me

I had to get the textbook for a class. The information was very knowledgeable and I didn't have a hard time with it. However, if you are a poor college student such as me, looking to renting the e-book can sometimes be cheaper. But with this book, it's probably better to just buy the damn thing. Renting it on here made me mad because I had to pay $73 twice so I could finish my course. I don't know how I had missed that the expiration date was in the middle of the freaking semester, but I did. I could have sworn I had arranged the expiration to December but, c'est la vie. Goodbye pay check, it was nice knowin' ya.

Affordable way to get a great book!

I bought this book for a class, but I am really enjoying it! It's well written and informative and I want to hang on to it after class is over so I can apply it to my own life and work. That said, this book is PRICY...so I was thrilled to be offered a loose-leaf option! It saved me a bunch of money and I just pop the chapters I need into a binder for class!. A word of warning, the pages do get folded and bent more easily when in loose leaf format, so just be careful!
